GZDoom

GZDoom is an improved port of the official Doom source code, optimized to run perfectly on any version of modern Macintosh operating systems. The game also comes with a multitude of improvements over the original release, ranging from better graphics to more precise and fluid control, as well as a lot of unique content.

It is important to emphasize that GZDoom is only the engine. That is, this download is not of a complete game per se. Instead, what it will allow us to do is to run almost all titles that use the Doom engine, such as Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, Heretic or Hexen, as long as we have the original files. Fortunately, today almost all of these games can be purchased very cheaply on several different digital distribution platforms. Not to mention, if we have the original games, we can also extract the files directly from them.

Among the most striking improvements with respect to the original game are the support for all types of resolutions, the improvement and increase of some textures, the possibility of using the free mouse view, or the use of translucent objects. Basically, GZDoom benefits from more modern technologies such as Vulkan and OpenGL 4, which will allow us to give it an absolutely spectacular facelift.

GZDoom is the best way to enjoy both Doom and all its heirs today. Whether we want to play a solo campaign to any of the titles that use the Doom engine, or if we want to play a multiplayer game with up to seven other players, this is undoubtedly the best option.
